Rippsy Documentation
Complete guide to using Rippsy, the free AI-powered DVD ripper.
100% Free Forever
Rippsy is completely free - no trials, no subscriptions, no "pro" versions. Just download and use!
Quick Start
- Insert DVD - Put your DVD into your computer's DVD drive
- Launch Rippsy - Open the app from your Start Menu
- Click "Scan for Drives" - Rippsy will detect your DVD
- Analyze - Let the AI analyze video quality (takes 10-30 seconds)
- Choose Format - MP4 (recommended), MKV, or ISO
- Start Ripping - Click "Rip DVD" and wait (typically 20-45 minutes)
AI Quality Detection
Rippsy's killer feature - it automatically analyzes your DVD and picks optimal settings:
- Resolution Detection - Determines if content is SD (480p) or HD
- Bitrate Calculation - Calculates perfect bitrate to avoid quality loss or bloat
- Preset Selection - Chooses the best encoder preset automatically
- Quality Score - Shows 0-100 quality rating before ripping
Example
You insert a 2003 home video DVD. Rippsy detects it's 480p, calculates bitrate at 2500kbps, and warns you that upscaling to 1080p would waste 8GB of space with zero quality gain.
